Oh, Irene

So naturally you must have assumed my power has been out since I have been MIA for so long. But now that we are back, up and running, I have been a posting machine.  I guess I should have thought this through a little more and posted in order, but I guess my brain was not prepared for that, so I have been posting backwards! This should have been my first post since the storm, in case you are wondering why this one is so late in coming.

Hey better late than never, right?

Like I mentioned, Irene knocked out our power for a few days but nothing major happened to our house or my family's houses'...thank you! Irene hit Baltimore between 6pm and 6am, Saturday into Sunday, so when my husband and I woke up on Sunday and assessed the damage...just some branches down...we grabbed some caffeine, harnessed the dog, and put A in her stroller to check out the neighborhood.

As we strolled around the debris on the street, battled the still very strong winds, and tried not to get hit with falling leaves or sticks, we took some shots of our neighborhood.
Somehow this massive tree took out the side walk, covered the road, and missed all cars and houses.

Another tree blocking the road

It was crazy how much debris was all over from the winds.

We did see these two perfect acorns in the midst of the chaos.

It is hard to tell from the picture but this is a massive tree branch that fell and daggered right into the ground...I mean this would have done some major damage!

Again, a MASSIVE tree that missed all cars and houses..

Now this one is a funny story. Here is how it went...
Me: "Wow, a newspaper holder that tiped over."
Hubby: "Babe, I think I saw a kid kick that over last week."
Me: "Well, I am calling it storm damage anyway!"

And once again, some more trees on the ground.

But everyone didn't make out quite as well. This is my friends house, who was up visiting us at the beach just a few weeks ago. Luckily everyone is safe and insurance is covering it all!
That is their bedroom window that is smooched by the tree!

  1. My mom's neighbor had a tree fall on her house and the limb severed her artery in her leg! She's ok but YIKES! Glad everything was ok with you!
