Dear Santa: I Have a Return

Okay, so you all know just how much I LOVE Christmas and everything that goes with it, but that being said, I have some beef with Santa and his elves. I think he must have been sipping on some Starbucks and linking up with Amazon, because his toy factory went into overdrive this year. I am not talking a few extra toys, I am talking a small toy store full of toys which all got delivered to little A this holiday season. Am I grateful that she has so many people that love her so very much they can't wait to buy her something...of course, but do I have the room to house them all while making sure our house is neat and tidy for showings...definitely not.

Don't get me wrong here, I went completely overboard with all the kids in our life too, because really, what is more fun than watching a child's face light up when they rip through the wrapping paper and fall in love with what is inside? Absolutely nothing. So, dear friends, relative, and neighbors...sorry about all the stuff, but it is my turn to vent now, so sit back and read along.

I have already looked into areas in our neighborhood which need and want gently used and new toys, but honestly, as annoying as the piles of toys, books, dolls, and games are around our house, the thought of giving someone's thoughtfully picked out present away is even too much for me. And I am a little crazy about throwing away things...one time I threw away my husbands...well, that is a whole other story for a different time.

But with A's birthday right around the corner and a growing list of toys I know she would LOVE, I am in a bit of a sticky situation. Do I give away some old toys? Box up some for the "next" kid someday? Or simply rent a storage unit under a fake name (just seems more appropriate) and stash them there?

Well, I think I have made my decision...

Present Exchange

Today was our Holiday lunch and present exchange with my girlfriends and all the kids.

It started off like any other Friday...we all trekked to the mall for our workout, which involved a little more talking than actual sweating today. Then it was time to head down and see the music story time they have on the first floor, conveniently located right next to Santa. After a little dancing, from the kids not us, we steered the kids away from "scary Santa" and headed to tiny town to let them run around. As you can imagine, getting four toddlers to do anything together is always a challenge, not to mention getting them all to stay relatively still in the same area for a picture. But today was our lucky day!

About 20 minutes later when a new wave of kids came in to play, we headed upstairs to exchange gifts and have lunch. The presents were perfect, the food was good, and the kids...well they were kids!

Happy Holidays!
