Easter Time!!

Well, I never got to finish telling you about our snow day! After nap we got all bundled up (G-man in his stroller, and A and I for some serious snow play) and we headed outside. We built snowmen, had a snowball fight, and laughed so hard our sides hurt!

Then today it was all about Easter! We made special treats for A's Easter party at school, then after school we headed over to get a photo with the Easter Bunny! Apparently my pep talk worked, because she hardly hesitated when it was our turn! We also met up with cousin's C and E for lunch, so naturally we had to get a shot of the four of them :)

Easter Eggs on a Snow Day!

When we woke up this morning to snow I was shocked! Snow, at the end of March? We were just out picking daffodils!

But, we are making the most of it. I bundled up the kids and we walked over to Gigi and Pop P's house for a fun-filled morning of dying Easter eggs (which she was actually pretty good at making)and playing!

And after nap we are all set to have some serious fun in the snow!

Terrible 3's

Terrible Three's...let's be honest, I didn't think it would happen to us, but it did, or it is, and it is kicking our a$#! I never thought our sweet and sassy little girl would look us right in the eye and say, "no", or constantly throw screaming fits when she doesn't get her way but oh my it is really happening.

Let's take today for example, we were walking through the mall doing a few errands after workout. G man was in the stroller snoozing and A was running ahead a little bit then waiting for me to catch up like always. We had just rounded the bend to chat with a friend for a sec and A was zooming her cow around patiently. Then, I told her it was time to hop back in the stroller...very common, she walks for a bit then hops in so we can get to our next destination...and since it was time to leave and we had to cross the whole mall it was time to hop back in. She knew this. This is not new in any way, shape, or form. But for some reason when I scooped her up (like always) and plopped her in, she started screaming, "no!" like I was abducting her, and arched her whole body so hard she almost fell on the floor. It was insane.

After I picked my jaw up from the floor, I firmly told her it was not appropriate behavior and she needed to sit in her stroller for the reason I just reiterated above. Well...good golly you would have thought I told her she was never getting dessert again. She screamed and continued to arch. Well, then I told her we were heading right home and she was not allowed to get out and walk again in the mall, as I secured her in her seat. This brought on more screaming, and pretty much every woman who passed us said, "don't worry it is a stage it will pass", but that is not what I wanted to hear.

I want to know what I can do to make this stop. What all of a sudden is she not listening to me? What happened to my sweet, well behaved girl? And what kind of consequences can I do to a three year old who won't listen. It was so bad the other day I took away her glue (I know, sounds weird but it is her most prized possession...she is obsessed with gluing!) for the afternoon and that didn't even seem to work. Ahhhh!

But then she does something like this and melts my heart...it is A reading to her little brother while he plays on the rug!

The Sick Bug :(

The sick bug is still lurking around our house...the latest victims...my husband and me. Blah. So we have been doing a lot of inside activities that haven't required too much of anything. I did get motivated the other day and take the kids and the dog for a walk/bike ride. Since A is still too little to bike the entire time I walk (yes, I like to try to get some exercise every now and then) I stick her balance bike on the back of the stroller and let her bike around the gardens when we get there and again when we get to the track. She loves having the break, and it is so cute watching her cruise around on her bike!

Here's to health!

Da-na, Da-na...

Da-na, da-na, da-na da-na da-na da-na BITE!

Well, the sick bug has officially hit Baltimore. Just as the weather is turning beautiful and the birds are starting to sing, everyone has come down with the bug. Dayquil and Nyquil are flying off the shelves around here and everyone is just holding their breath, wondering who is going to get it next. Well this morning it struck my sister's nanny, so after A's dentist appointment we headed over to relieve her and play with the kids till TT could get off work.

Now, this was a little crazy because it was essentially like having two sets of twins, with A and C running around like maniacs, and G-man and E needing some quality time too. We bundled up (of course today was actually pretty chilly still this morning, and headed outside to play with bubbles, cars, and just get some beans out!

It was all smooth sailing until around 11am when both of the littles needed bottles...at the same time. Hum...so I did what any mom of twins would do (I am assuming) and stuck them both in bouncy seats, gave them each a bottle, and had the big sisters hold them so I could catch up on some online shopping.

Ha, just kidding what do you take me for, a neglectful aunt :) Oh, no, not me. I had them each in their seats for the first few ounces then I rotated who got to hang out while the other got to be walked and fed (the only way E will eat) or snuggled and fed (the was G prefers). Then it was off to nap for the littles and I got started on lunch for the bigs. Luckily TT got home during lunch and I packed up my exhausted big girl, and sound asleep little man and HIGHTAILED  it out of there. Just kidding, it might have been crazy, but it was super fun too!

It's Food Time!

There is not much that I love more than making baby food. I can spend hours each day roasting, steaming, poaching, and pureeing food. I remember when A was old enough to eat food the thrill of shopping for the perfect veggies and making the most exciting concoctions. The main issue I had, was my excitement lead to a massive freezer-full of vegetable, fruits, proteins, and every combination within.

And so my excitement couldn't be squelched this morning as I dropped A off at school then headed to the Dr. for G's 4 month apt. After weighing in at an astonishing 16.3lbs (yes, A was only 18lbs even at a year...in fact I think she might have been high 17's but the nurse took pity on me and rounded up) I heard the news I have been waiting for since I found out I was pregnant..."you can start food!"

I swear, it was music to my ears! So with A still in school, G and I dashed over to pick up a healthy assortment of veggies for him to begin enjoying! As we speak I have sweet potatoes scrubbed and roasting, butternut squash chopped in the fridge, and two bags of carrots! Like I said...I get really excited about this!

And the best news...I am going to make enough for G and his little (in size, mind you) cousin E (C's little sister). Since they are only 9 days apart and are both cleared for purees, I now have an outlet for my excess baby food!

Yippee...here's to some new first tastes and lots of pictures to come!!!

Ta-Da!

So here is my first attempt at making my own frames. I started with a plain wooden frame (from Michael's) and after some paint, scrapbooking paper, Mod Podge, some embellishment, and some initials cut with my cricut...I have my finished product. Granted I really wanted to just finish one, so I did rush this one a bit, but I am pretty sure my next one will be even better!

Then I made this out of the kids footprints! Now, if only I can do this every year, or let's be honest, I will settle for once every few years!

And then it was time for a few pics of the kids...it was all going well until G-man decided to lean a little too much on his big sister, and then it was pouting time! Haha....little stinker, your first time really annoying your sister! Well done :) Happy Monday!

Crafting Day!

You know I am starting to get my life back together when I have time to do crafts! So after nap the other day, I packed up the kids and headed over to TT's house for some crafting fun. Okay, so it had been a while, and I was a little rusty, that's okay.  I got a little over zealous with the egg size, but as the days past I started to get my crafting groove back. So this morning, with daddy heading up to Vermont for a wedding this weekend, the kids and I hit Michael's to stock up on a weekend full of crafting supplies!

Here is some of the fun we have been having!

First, we had to have our two big girls strike some poses as they prepared to get down and dirty painting us some beautiful pictures.

And since the littles are still too small for crafts, mainly because they can't even sit up yet, we stuck them on the playmat for lots of rolling and giggling.

Next it was on to making chalk Easter eggs. I found this one on Pinterest and knew I had to try it! It is so simple. Just draw an egg shape (or cut one out if your kids are old enough to stay within the lines) and using painters tape (cut in half to make it skinnier) lay some strips on the egg. Then have the kids dip the sidewalk chalk in water and color away! When they are all finished all you have to do is cut out the egg shape and remove the tape for perfectly faux-dyed Easter eggs!

Then this morning A and I made a little spring chick with her handprints for feet. Again, a super simple craft. I cut out a body circle and a head circle, then traced a circle on the white paper about a  1/2 inch smaller than the body circle, to give A a guide as to where the feathers should be glued, then I turn the glue and a bag of multi-colored feathers over to a very excited 3 year old. Next, she glued on some eyes and a beak and we put it all together. The last step was her handprints of course, and again we stuck to nice and simple. I smeared some orange paint on a plate let her rub her little hands around then splat, onto the paper they went.

Then while I was making lunch A ran around finding all the Easter eggs I had hidden for her!

Then it was time for my crafts! This summer I bought some adorable picture frames at the beach that had been covered in scrapbooking paper and paint, so I decided to give it a whirl. I have only finished the paint and mod podge but we will see how they turn on soon, when they are dry and I have time to add some more fun embellishments!

What a fun morning!
