"Mommy, I Not Listening"

Today was A's Holiday Bizarre at school, which we had been looking forward to for weeks. The brownies were baked, packed, and delivered and my wallet was stocked with crisp twenty dollar bills ready to hand over to all the adorable vendors selling everything from hair bows to monogrammed outfits. We also signed up for a mini session with the photographer who would be there in the hopes of getting a Christmas card shot!

So this morning, as I hunted through our closets in search of the perfect, but not over-planned, outfits I settled on jeans for all, a white sweater for me, a green and blue oxford for the hubby, and a red tunic with a small green Christmas tree for A. I had it all planned out, I would get A and myself dressed after breakfast, since the odds of her spilling something on one of us is always elevated when I have a particular outfit I want her in, before heading to the bizarre in plenty of time to check in and get our shots.

Everything was going perfectly until we arrived and I realized the photographer was set up outside. Don't get me wrong, I am a big fan of natural light, but with the thermometer barely reaching 35 degrees and not wanting coats on in our pictures, I was in a bit of a bind. But we decided what was 15 minutes, we shed our coats and grabbed A! About 10 minutes later we rushed back inside stiff from the cold with three bright red noses, and low hopes of having gotten a good Christmas card shot.

And I suppose that is for the best, since A decided she did not want to listen to Mommy and Daddy anymore after lunch time and ran around yelling, "I not listening" while putting her fingers in her ears. So without the cute matching outfits and perfectly posed limbs, I got my Christmas card shot after all!

  2. Thanks for stopping by Tots and Me I am a new follower. Your little one is adorable. I know what you mean about getting them dressed after breakfast. When I am in a rush and they need to be looking all spiffy, that is when the spills happen.
Glad you got the shots you wanted. Can't believe the photographer would set up outside in that cold. Brrrr. I couldn't have done it.
    Have a great weekend

  3. Thanks for stopping by my blog! There should be a follower option on the little strip at the very top of my blog. (Not sure if there's a better way to describe it?)

I used the free Picnik (Picnik.com) edits to make the photo black and white and keep the hat in color. Photobucket also has a free edit to do the same thing.

  6. Why did he set up outside? That's just weird!

And yeah, I ALWAYS dress Babe after breakfast! It's just no use to do it beforehand. The good news is that doesn't last forever. I get Bud dressed before breakfast and he makes it out unscathed (most of the time). :-)

Great pictures for your card! Which reminds me...I should probably do that too. "Should" being the key word.
