Hello Rock Star

Okay, I admit it...I am giving myself a pat on the back here, but let me explain. Ever since we put our house on the market I have spent most nap-times, cleaning up, organizing, rearranging, and being pretty lazy since the fear of messing up my hard work was greater than anything positive that could come out of getting the house dirty. But today, I decided to throw caution to the wind and get back to being the productive me, I used to be!

So after a nice lunch I snuggled A into her crib for her afternoon nap and got to work. First item on my list was to make a present for a very special person in our lives, who is always willing to open her home and heart to our family. I know she reads this blog sometimes, so I am not going to name her...even though she is pretty bright and I am fairly certain she will catch on. Anyway, this person is letting us trek up to her gorgeous NYC apartment to stay for the weekend, with A, when she is not even going to be home! I mean, that is a pretty amazing friend, someone who will let you and your crazy 1 3/4 year old daughter tear around her place for 48 hours. Maybe it is because of her big heart that she has more friends that I could even count, and every year before Christmas when we make our annual trip to NYC to hit the stores, I spend hours looking through her Christmas cards. So I decided to make her a beautiful and functional wreath so she can have all of her cards on display (well let's be honest, I am sure they won't all fit but maybe she can rotate them).
Here it is...

And how it should work!

Then, it was on to item #2. I LOVE cooking. It not only relaxes me, but I feel such a sense of accomplishment when hubby gets home from a hard day's work and there is a nice dinner on the table. So in honor of the plunging temperatures I decided tonight was definitely a warm and toasty meatball sandwich night. A little of this and a little of that and we have some yummy meatballs ready to pop in the oven!

Yumm...

Next, my least favorite, #3...laundry. I used to be better about doing laundry but now I put it in the washer and switch it over to the dryer and there is sits for sometimes days on end. But not today! I washed, dried, and folded two loads of laundry and am currently waiting for our sheets to dry so I can remake our bed.

And finally, I am baking some brownie bites (just brownies made in mini muffin tins) for the bake sale at A's School's Holiday Bizarre this Saturday.
Can you smell them?

So with a half an hour before A is due to wake up, and the smell of brownies wafting through the air, I think it might be time for me to hit the Halloween candy stash for a little afternoon jolt!

  3. Is your entire life just about a toddler and making crafts? Sister, put a little energy into society or the public good, okay?

  4. Anonymous,s comment stinks! What's wrong with making your family and friends a priority?

  5. How did you make the wreath? I had my daughters paint some clothes pins in Christmas colors last year and we just clipped the cards on to one of those wide velvety ribbons that I hung in our entryway, but I like your idea much better.

And, I agree Anonymous needs to get a life. If you're not interested in someone's blog, don't read it and keep your rude comments to yourself. There are tons of blogs out there, if you don't like this one, find one you do.

  6. I love how people think that what you choose to write on your blog constitutes EVERYTHING you do. You couldn't possibly do anything more than you write here.

    Shove it anonymous!

So anyway...can't you just make me a wreath like that and I'll tell everyone I made it? That would be great, thanks! :-)
