Happy Monday!

Both of my (crazy) sisters just got back from St. Maarten and decided to do a week long cleanse. Yeah, I know what you are thinking, how bad can it be right...well let me explain. They are only allowed to drink vegetable juice "smoothies" for a few days then can add in some nuts and salads for a few days before being totally crazy and being able to indulge in fish and whole grains. Then the big no-no's are caffeine (yikes), sugar (ouch), and alcohol (oh sweet mother of...) and these three have to be avoided the entire time.

The idea of the cleanse sounds great, rid your body of toxins while enjoying the feeling of starvation, but it is not something I could ever manage. I have a hard enough time cutting back to one dessert a day, so this wouldn't really work for me, at least not in the long run. I am sure I could put away one of those kale smoothies with my breakfast, but again, I think that would defeat the whole purpose of the cleanse.

Being the supportive sister that I am, I decided to only eat unprocessed, whole grain, natural products for the week so I can understand a little of what they are going through. Can I still have my coffee and wine...duh, but I will try to cut back to two glasses, and I am not talking one of each :) So, here is my menu for the week, based off my new found 5-day heath kick! Oh, you picked up on that too huh...well I can't make it a full week. Honestly, who can be that good on the weekend, especially with a home playoff game?

  1. Can you guess what I think about this cleanse? :-)

Let's just say, better them than me! :-)

Although, can I have your recipe for Wednesday's meal? That sounds pretty good!
