Today we decided would be the perfect day to visit the butterfly farm. One, A is obsessed with butterflies...I mean it is her birthday party theme. And two, it was time to get my little sand ball off the beach for a few hours, since running back and forth from the water to the toys over and over again, actually does get annoying. Huh, who knew!
So after breakfast we packed some snacks, found an acceptable car seat. Yes, feel free to judge me, but A was riding "island style" for the past two days because car seats are not really something the islands stocks, well except for the pesky, nervous tourists. Don't get me wrong, I am a huge fan of being safe, but when no car goes over 10 miles per hour, we rarely drive more than a few miles at a time, and the roads are mainly dirt...well your idea of safety shifts from car seats to not hitting the cow that is running alongside of your car, on a one-lane, two way road.
Anyway...we did get a car seat, certainly not one that would pass US standards, but hey, she was strapped in...and we headed for the French side of the island.
After an hour of walking around the butterfly farm (yes, there was netting all over to keep them in) we had taken some adorable pictures, felt butterfly wings brush past our cheeks, and even managed to get a few to land on us. It was a morning filled with laughing, squealing, and all over joy.
Now, I am sitting here with a chilled glass of wine, watching the cruise ships head to their next port, as I wait for the babysitter to arrive. Because tonight, we are having a very well deserved adult dinner on the French side!
